Ermenerd Brynling (Etrandish: Ermenerd Brynling ; IPA: [əɹmɛnəɹd‿bɾʏnlɪŋ] Gnome-speakernotes.png) is an Etrandish aristocrat, and currently a steward serving under King Orlónius I of Etrand. He is a close associate of Crown Prince Markal of Etrand.

Early Life

Ermenerd was born on the 2nd of Anarkalina, 797 AEKE, as the second son in the Brynling family. His father, Cairwynden Brynling is the younger brother of the late Myrró Brynling, who got executed for his participation in the Carolus Conspiracy. Originally - before the conspiracy - Cairwynden ruled over a rater small parcel of land, and was little more than a minor count. It was decided that his eldest son Calder would inherit the estate, while Ermenerd would be paid to go to the Royal Academy of Grandfolk.

After the Carolus Conspiracy, Myrró got executed, and the passive Cairwynden - who refused to take sides in the conflict, remaining neutral - was awarded his childless brother's full estate. Despite the sudden drastic increase in the size of the demesne, Cairwynden did not change his mind and stuck with the original plan of having Calder inheriting the land and sending Ermenerd to the academy to become a bureocrat.

Ermenerd was 14 years old when he enrolled into the Royal Academy, in 811. He graduated 7 years later, in 818. After that, he would return to his father's estate and work as his father's steward for the next five years.

The Royal Household

In 823, Ermenerd got recommended by his father into the royal palace, as he was a skilled steward. The royal authorities hired him, and soon, the talented Ermenerd began working as a accountant in the royal palace. Just four years later, by 827, he would end up becoming a royal advisor on finance, being promoted to the rank of steward.
