The Brotherhood of the Dark Moon is an organization created with the intention of holding together the criminal underworld of Continental Artograch, and including the best thieves, spellthieves, assassins and headhunters that Continental Artograch can offer (a goal at which they fail miserably, as these criminals largerly prefer working alone or for smaller individual criminal organizations, rather than being under the wing of a large organization like the Brotherhood of the Dark Moon). The organization offers protection, shelter and food to these criminals in exchange for part of the profit they make - they also act as intermediaries between said freelancer criminals and people who wish to hire said criminals.

The group has strict standards when it comes to recruitment, and is utterly secretive.

Rules

  1. The organization is secretive. Revealing the organization's secrets is strictly against the rules. This includes:
    • Publicly revealing anyone to be part of the organization or a supporter of the organization.
    • Publicly revealing the location of the secret headquarters of the organization. (which is the the Sizzling Sun)
    • Publicly revealing the very existence of the organization. (Only members and supporters to supposed to be even aware of the group's very existence)
  2. Recruits mast pass through a trial to gain membership. After being rejected for failure, it is forbidden to try again.
  3. To kill or mutilate a fellow brother (or sister) without explicitly being ordered to do so by the higher-ups is strictly forbidden.
  4. Supporters of the brotherhood are entitled to the same amount of protection as full members. To deny such protection to them provokes strict punishment!
  5. Those who break the rules are punished by death.

Ranks

  1. Master of the Moon: The leader of the brotherhood. Given how there has been only one so far, it is unclear how does succession work.
  2. Shadow Masters: The upper leadership of brotherhood, they get to decide who is qualified to be recruited, who has earned promotion, as well as who gets to become the next Master of the Moon, in case the current one dies.
  3. Shadow Walkers: They are the ones who decide what kind of jobs do the Shadow Servants get. The Shadow Walkers themselves can freely pick their jobs. They are supposed to pay 25% of their profits to the brotherhood. The Shadow Masters decide which Shadow Servants get promoted to the rank of Shadow Walkers.
  4. Shadow Servants: Fresh recruits, heavily dependent on the Shadow Walkers, they must pay 50% of their profits to the brotherhood after each succesful job.
  5. Supporters: Rich nobles, merchants, magicians. They are responsible for supplying the brotherhood with supplies (food, drinks, money, etc.). For their services, they are granted protection, discount and a plethora of other special privileges. They have to pay a monthly support fee, otherwise they are revoked of their defence privileges for that month.
