The world of Artograch has its own calendars and way to keep track of days, weeks, months and years. Each and every year consists of 376 days, and there are no leap years, which means that the Planet Artograch rotates 376 times around its own axis during each time it completes its orbit around its sun - because the planet's orbit around its sun and its 376 rotations around its own axis sync almost perfectly (being only a few microseconds off), there are no leap years.
In the world of Artograch, each and every culture has their own way of keeping years.
We also keep distinction between several time periods:
- Pre-Ancestral Era, predating recorded history (before 20 000 BEKE)
- Ancestral Era or Antiquity (20 000 BEKE - 1200 BEKE)
- Elder Era (1200 BEKE - 0 BEKE/AEKE)
- Middle Era (0 AEKE - today)

Divisions beyond the day
The wast majority of Artograchian cultures base their calender off lunar years, which means that each year consists of 376 days, because the planet's orbit around its sun corresponds with 376 rotations around its own axis - however, beneath that, cutlures divide up the day differently.
The Torgyrian languages (such as Shár, High Elven, Wood Elven and Etrandish), Lizardman languages and Norlokian langauges (such as Dwarven and Halfling) all have a numerical system whose base is a power of two, so it is only apropriate that the day is divided into units that are converted into each other via multiplying or dividing by a power of two: in Dwarven the Elven languages, each day is divided into 16 hours, each hour is divided into 64 minutes, and each minute is divided into 64 seconds, which means that each second is one 65536th of the time it takes for a planet to rotate around its own axis (as opposed to the one 86400th of Terran time), meaning that each Dwarven or Elven second corresponds to 1.318359375 Terran seconds. The Shár and Lizardman languages employ a scheme of dividing each day into 16 hours, each hour into 16 minutes, each 256 seconds, which also results in each second being one 65536th of the time it takes for a planet to rotate around its own axis.
